I have been MIA for a while now my fellow followers & tumbl-ers. I apologize! I have just been busy with basketball, school, and work( well lack of ). I have come here to announce something life changing. I have decided to join the Navy.
I am most likely going to go into the Health Care and use the Navy to assist me in getting my BSN and eventually help pay for my education to get my Masters. This choice is a heavy one and I’ve been contemplating it for years. I’ve only decided to take action now due to many different circumstances but I believe in a few years eveything will turn out for the best.
And well..that’s it!
Don’t get too attached to your patients. Because Adela down the hallway, Tom a few rooms down, Sharon on the opposite end, and Bobby nearby may one day pass away and the connections and memories and laughter I’ve created and shared with them will haunt and destroy me inside. But I prefer to think of it as a “mini-miracle”. They can’t get out of that place…they are stuck there. So I make the most of it by coming by their rooms and putting forth an effort; whether it be having a 10 minute conversation, saying hello and wishing them a good day, or filling their pitchers with ice and cleaning up. Eventually they’ll tire. Eventually they’ll wither. Eventually they’ll die. But I’ll make try my best to make sure that they can at least enjoy life once again. Because a smile from them is like a thousand words. And one day I’ll look back at my life on my death bed and say, “Yeah….at least I tried.”
